The purpose of this document is to inform you of how your personal information is handled in connection with your use of the myTorstar employee portal.

MyTorstar Portal Privacy Statement

Torstar Corporation and its subsidiaries (collectively, the "Torstar Companies" or "we") value the privacy of employees. For that reason, we have prepared this Privacy Statement. This Privacy Statement applies only to your interactions with the myTorstar employee portal ("Portal"). It does not apply to any other website or service.

The Portal is made available to you to facilitate the administration of the employment relationship between you and the applicable Torstar Company. This includes the administration of payroll, benefits and career opportunities within the Torstar Companies. Your personal information may be collected, used or disclosed for these purposes, or otherwise with your consent or as permitted or required by law.

When you visit the Portal, you do not do so anonymously. To ensure the security of the Portal system, and any systems to which it is connected, you must authenticate yourself by username and password. We log each time you access the Portal, together with your IP address, for security and auditing purposes.

We may use cookies or other technologies to better understand your behaviour and interactions with the Portal, to recognize you or your device, or to improve your user experience. If you wish, you may disable cookies or delete them; but, some functionality within the Portal may be disabled or your experience may be degraded as a result.

We use industry standard encryption technology to help protect data in transmission between your computer or device and the Portal server to prevent data from being intercepted in transit. Your browser should show you, in the usual way, that your connection is secure. However, the internet is not 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee that information may not be breached. Please guard your login information carefully and use a strong password. If you receive any error messages, do NOT use the Portal; instead, restart your browser. If the problem persists, please contact the IT Department. Email and other similar forms of communication may not be encrypted. Please do not send sensitive or confidential information through these means.

We may use contractors or service providers to host, administer or improve the Portal or any materials made available to you via the Portal, or to perform services on our behalf. We may share your personal information with these authorized third parties for these purposes; however, we will take reasonable measures to ensure your information is treated confidentially.

Note that the Portal server may be located in Canada or the United States, and your information may be transferred or stored outside of Canada by us or a third party service provider. In certain circumstances foreign courts, law enforcement or regulatory agencies may be entitled to access your personal information.
